Gulf Fritillary Butterfly in Bluebonnet Swamp
Fabric, needle and thread are a part of my life. I create contemporary fiber art. I design my fabrics with dyes, paints, silk screens, discharging, etc. I use cottons, silks, linens, recycled materials and found objects. Nature is my inspiration. Louisiana is a beautiful land blessed with a rainbow of plants and animals. A ride in the country reveals ditches with dazzling white egrets standing amid beds of rare “Abbeville Red” irises. A walk could be along a path in the forest where orange flowers on a vine adorn a tree like an exquisite piece of jewelry. Inspiration is all around us. I belong to several local guilds and attend workshops with nationally recognized teachers. I also teach and lecture locally. I love designing the fabric and using my materials to create something I have designed myself. Each piece is a challenge. As I master new techniques, my work evolves. I use my art to express who I am and how I am impacted by my world.
